I am doing a lot of things to get this operation setup with a decent foundation. I've got stuff to do on YouTube, Blogger, and eBay. I spent the last two weeks listing 214 items for sale on my eBay account. That was hard work, doing the same activities over and over again. But repetition is the name of the game right now. I am mostly pleased with the results I've gotten on eBay. My 90-day sales total is $772.35. That comes from several of my best cards from my Vanderbilt collection: several 1/1 Rookie/Patch/Autos (RPAs), a 1/1 jumbo patch, and a 1/1 rookie card (RC) of Dansby Swanson and Walker Buehler.
I was an avid Vanderbilt collector for a few years and had a good collection going. But I was also collecting main stream cards and got pulled too far in those two directions. So, I am selling off my Vandy cards to buy some main stream cards and do a little grading with PSA.
One player I have a lot of is Kumar Rocker, the former Vanderbilt standout and current top prospect for the Texas Rangers. In fact, I just sold two Rocker cards via Best Offer while I was writing this post: one Panini Stars & Stripes RPA serial numbered out of 299 and a Leaf RPA serial numbered out of 9. I still have a lot of Rockers left and will be selling them at good prices.
To get back to the tasks on YouTube and Blogger, I had tried to take a stab at this method of catch-and-release card trading. The idea is that if you don't have the big bucks to buy great cards and hold on to them, then you can buy great cards and take pictures and make videos and use Blogger (or another blogging service) and YouTube to showcase them. Then you can sell them and take the money and buy more great cards and take more photos and make more videos. It's a concept that has some potential, although I haven't fully tested it yet.
That being said, I have about 70 cards that I have already take the photographs for from when I stuck my toe in this water a while ago. So, I've been make videos and posting them on YouTube. So far no major success, but there have been some nibbles: 101 views in the first three days. I've made and uploaded all the cards' photos now and it's about the little things now: adjusting the titles, managing playlists, updating descriptions, and setting thumbnails. As for Blogger, I'm organizing the structure of the site and starting to upload card photos.
It's going to be a busy day!
